What Do You Think About Office Clothing Rules?
February 28, 2010 4:00 pm News and SocietyMost offices have tacit or explicit rules about clothing. Guys have to wear a shirt and tie, women have to dress smartly (blouse / shirt, dark trousers / skirt). These rules are often just set because every other office follows such rules. But what does this achieve? Is productivity and morale higher due to such strict rules?
What if you could wear what you wanted – such as ladies sandals or trainers on your feet, t-shirts – even shorts. Would casualwear lead to less productivity? Offices should experiment with this and see what works best – have a casualwear day once a week and see how it goes.
